'상대를 설득해 ~하게 하다' 라고 할 때 'talk~into' 라는 표현을 쓴다.
가령, I couldn't resist buying the product after he talked me into it." 하면 "그가 말로 나를 설득한 후에 난 그 제품을 사지 않을 수 없었다. " 가 되며, "I won't change my mind. Please don't try to talk me into it." 하면 "내 마음은 변함없어요. 날 설득하려 하지 마세요. " 라는 뜻이 된다.
"He talked me into it." 과 비슷한 표현에 "He persuaded me to do it." "He gave me an offer I couldn't refuse." 등이 있다.
참고로 "She sweet - talked me into it." 하면 "그녀는 달콤한 말로 나를 설득했다. " 라는 뜻이다.
A:Honey. What is this?
B:Uh … I don't really know, but it looks great.
A:Where did you get it?
B:I bought it from a man down the street for only $5.
A:I think you wasted your money. Why did you buy such a thing?
B:I guess he talked me into it.
A:여보. 이게 뭐죠?
B:음…모르겠는데, 멋있어 보여서.
A:어디서 난 거예요?
B:길거리의 남자에게서 단돈 5달러에 샀소.
A:돈을 낭비한 것 같군요. 그런걸 왜 샀어요?
B:그가 설득해서 샀죠.
