수많은 전화가 한꺼번에 걸려올 때 "전화가 빗발치듯 걸려옵니다. " 고 할 수 있는데, 이를 영어로는 "Calls are pouring in." 이라고 한다.
가령 "So many calls are pouring in that we can't do any office work." 라고 하면 "전화가 빗발치듯 걸려와 업무를 볼 수 없습니다. " 가 되며 "Calls have been pouring in after the announcement was made in news." 라고 하면 "뉴스에서 방송된 후에 전화가 빗발치듯 걸려오고 있습니다. " 가 된다.
"Calls are pouring in." 과 비슷한 표현에 "Calls are coming in torrents." "Calls are flooding in." 등이 있다.
A:After we advertised our product on TV, calls have been pouring in.
B:You must be doing good business!
A:But we can't do any other work.
B:You're making money, though.
A:There're a limited number of products but people still call to buy them.
B:In that case it does interrupt your other office work.
A:텔레비전에 상품광고가 나간 후 전화가 빗발치듯 걸려오고 있어요.
