사라 브라이트만·안드레아 보첼리, 베이징 올림픽 주제가 부른다

‘작별의 시간’(Time to Say Goodbye)을 함께 불렀던 시각 장애인 테너 안드레아 보첼리와 뮤지컬 가수 사라 브라이트만이 베이징 올림픽 주제가를 부른다.

8일 오후 8시에 개막되는 베이징 올림픽 개막식 행사에서 올림픽 주제가 ‘영원한 친구’(Forever Friends)는 영국 출신의 뮤지컬 가수 사라 브라이트만(48), 중국에서 ‘가왕(歌王)’으로 통하는 가수 류환(劉歡ㆍ45)이 혼성 2중창으로 부를 것이라고 베이징 올림픽 조직위원회가 발표했다. 이 노래는 베이징 올림픽 조직위가 전세계에 공모해 접수한 5만여곡의 노래 가운데 심사를 거쳐 선정한 곡이다.

사라 브라이트만은 뮤지컬 ‘오페라의 유령’ 런던 초연 때 주역을 맡았던 가수. 한때 뮤지컬의 대부 앤드루 로이드 웨버와 부부이기도 했다. 1992년 바르셀로나 올림픽 때 스페인 태생의 테너 호세 카레라스와 함께 올림픽 주제가 ‘영원한 친구’(Amigos Para Siempre)를 불렀다. 류환은 1990년 베이징 아시안 게임 개막식 때 중국 여가수 웨이웨이와 함께 주제가‘거대한 아시아의 바람’을 불렀다.

브라이트만-류환이 부를 베이징 올림픽 공식 주제가 ‘영원한 친구’는 이탈리아 출신의 프로듀서 겸 작곡가 조르지오 모로더(68)와 중국이 자랑하는 피아니스트 공샹둥(孔祥東)이 함께 만든 음악이다. 모로더는 1984년 LA 올림픽 주제곡 ‘리치 아웃(Reach Out)’, 1988년 서울 올림픽 주제가 ‘손에 손잡고(Hands in Hands)’의 작곡자다. 1990년 이탈리아 월드컵 대회 주제가 ‘이탈리아의 여름’도 작곡했다.

한편 ‘영원한 친구’와 더불어 베이징 올림픽의 주제가로 함께 불릴 ‘하나의 세계, 하나의 꿈’(One Word, One Dream)은 테너 안드레아 보첼리와 중국 출신 여가수 장량잉이 함께 영어로 부른다. 영화음악 ‘와호장룡’으로 유명한 중국 출신의 탄둔이 작곡하고 캐다다 출신의 프로듀서로 셀린 디옹의 음반 제작을 맡았던 데이비드 포스터(59)가 가사를 쓰고 편곡도 했다. ‘하나의 세계, 하나의 꿈’은 베이징 올림픽 공식 표어이기도 하다.
