신용카드를 남용하다 보면 카드 지불이 연체되는 경우가 있다.“저는 카드 연체입니다.”라고 할때의 적절한 표현에“I'm behind in my credit card payments.”가 있다.여기서 'be behind in'~은'~에 뒤처지다'라는 뜻으로,가령 “I'm so stressed out because I'm behind in my credit card payments.”하면“저는 카드가 연체되어 스트레스를 많이 받습니다.”라는 뜻이다.
이와 비슷한 표현에 “I've been neglecting to pay my credit card bills.”등이 있다.
A:I want to buy a notebook computer but I'm short of cash.
B:Why don't you buy one on credit?
A:Because I'm behind in my credit card payments.
B:How did that happen?
A:I bought too many gifts last Christmas that I couldn't pay off in time.
B:Please be more careful in the future.
