398. Cut to the chase

cut은 ‘(이야기 등을) 짧게 하다’는 뜻이며, chase는 추적·추격이란 말입니다.

A:Why don’t we cut to the chase? So, what are they offering?
B:First of all, you’d be stepping into the same position you are in now. However, we’re willing to increase your salary by 25% over a period of five years, plus a signing bonus of 12.5%.
A:OK. Could you tell me what the fringe benefits are like?
B:They include a comprehensive benefits package from health and life insurances to dental and optics, plus better pension plans, job security and stock options.

A:요점만 말씀하시는 게 어떨까요? 그러니까 뭘 제안하는 거죠?
B:우선 지금과 같은 직위를 갖게 되겠지만 5년에 걸쳐 연봉을 25% 인상해 드릴 것이며 계약 상여금으로 12.5%를 더 지불할 계획입니다.
A:네. 직원 혜택에는 어떤 것들이 있는지 말씀해주시겠어요?
B:건강 및 생명 보험에서 치과와 안과 혜택까지, 그리고 보다 낳은 연금제도와 공용보증 그리고 주식 매입 선택권 등을 포함한 포괄적인 패키지입니다.

They chased him down to his apartment. (그들은 그를 그의 아파트까지 쫓아가서 잡았다.)
