The sociologist on an African jungle expedition held up her camera to take pictures of the native children at play. Suddenly the youngsters began to yell in protest.
Turning red, the sociologist apologized to the chief for her insensitivity and told him she had forgotten that certain tribes believed a person lost his soul if his picture was taken.
Smiling, he said, "The children were trying to tell you that you forgot to take off the lens cap!"
아프리카의 정글을 탐험 중이던 한 여류 사회학자가 놀고 있는 원주민 아이들을 찍으려고 카메라를 들이댔다. 그러자 갑자기 그 아이들이 항의를 하듯 큰 소리를 질렀다. 사회학자는 얼굴을 붉히며 몇몇 부족들이 사진을 찍히면 혼이 빠져 나간다고 믿고 있다는 사실을 깜빡 잊었다고 추장에게 사과했다. 추장이 빙그레 웃으면서 말했다. "저 아이들은 렌즈 뚜껑이 닫혀 있다고 말해주려던 것이라오."
