wild는 보편적으로 '야생'의 의미로 알려져 있지만, 위 표현처럼 '소란스러운, 시끄러운, 떠들썩한'의 의미로도 자주 사용됩니다.

A:It was a wild day on Wall Street today. Wave after wave of selling in the first 10 minutes of trading, Dow-Jones plunged a hundred points. After another 10 minutes, another hundred points, and by 4 p.m., Dow-Jones lost almost 250 points, but recovered about 1/5 of its loses before closing.

B:What's causing this tremendous sell-off?

A:The sell-off is in response to a new government figure indicating workers' wages being on the rise faster than usual over the last three months. Up 1.5 percent.

B:But that doesn't sound like much.

A:오늘 하루 월가는 떠들썩했습니다. 밀려드는 매각주문으로 거래 시작 10분 만에 다우존스는 100 포인트 하락했으며 10분 후 또다시 100 포인트 하락했습니다. 4시가 되어서는 거의 250 포인트가 하락했습니다만, 폐장 전까지 손실의 5분의1을 회복했습니다.

B:매각의 원인은 무엇입니까?

A:매각은 지난 3개월 동안 근로자 임금이 평소 때보다 빠르게 상승하고 있다는 보고에 따른 것이었습니다. 1.5% 인상되었습니다.

B:인상폭이 그다지 높은 것 같지는 않은데요.
