She is the apple of my eye.
「아주 중요한 존재나 대상」을 일컫는 말에 「apple ofone's eye」가 있다.가령 『She's the appleof my eye.』라고 하면 『그 애는 눈에 넣어도 아프지 않다』는 뜻이고 『I would do anythi ng formy daughter because she is the apple of my eye.』라고 하면 『내 딸은 내게 보물같은 존재이므로 그 애를 위해 무엇이든 할 것이다.』라는 뜻이다.『She's the apple of m y eye.』와 비슷한 표현에 『She means everything to me.』 『She's very precious to me.』 『She's more dear to me than life itself.』등이 있다.참고로 「apple of one's eye」는 사물에도 쓸 수 있는데 『Tom's new computer is th e apple of his eye.』라고 하면『톰의 새 컴퓨터는 그에게 각별하다.』는 뜻이다.
