Let's chip in. 여러명이 조금씩 돈을 나눠 내는 경우가 있는데 영어로는.chip in'으로 표현할 수 있다.가령“Let's chip infor a snack.”하면“각자 돈 좀 내 간식 사먹자.”는뜻이고,“Let's chip in and bu y Mr.Smith something nice for his birthday.”하면“각자 돈 좀 내 스미스씨 생일 선물로 멋있는 걸 삽시다.”란 뜻이다.“Let's chip in.”과 비슷한 표현에“Let's all pitch in .”“Let's all contribute.”“Let's go Dutch.”등이 있다.참고로.chip in'에는.(의견등을)제시하다'는 뜻도 있는데“He chipped in his opinion at the meeting.”이라고 하면“그는 모임에서 자신의 의견을 제시했다.”란 뜻이다.
