물을 부어 만드는 요리인 경우 부주의로 끓어 넘치는 경우가 있다.'끓어 넘치다'는 영어로'boil over'로 표현하는데“The soup is boiling over.”하면“국이 끓어 넘쳐요.”라고 하면 되고, “Quick! Run to the stove! The soup is boiling over!”하면“빨리! 스토브로 달려가요! 국이 넘쳐요!”가 된다.“The soup is boiling over.”와 비슷한 표현에“The soup is bubbling.”“The soup is at a boil.”등이 있다.참고로'넘쳐 흐르다'는'spill over'라고 하는데“The water is spilling over.”하면“물이 넘쳐 흐른다.”가 된다.또'끓는 점''비등점'을'boiling point'라고 한다는 것도 알아두자.A:What's for dinner,honey?B:Your favorite!
