예산 범위을 벗어나지 말라는 뜻으로 '분수에 맞게 쓰다'는 말입니다.

반대로 돈의 씀씀이가 커 낭비가 심하다는 표현은 "He/she is in the habit of wasting money."입니다.

A:Honey, you are not going to believe it. I bought this bag at half price.

B:So how much was it?

A:It was only $200.

B:What? Are you out of your mind? We have bills to pay, and you spent $200 for a bag? We have to stay within our budget.

A:Okay. I'll return it.

A:자기야. 당신은 못 믿을 거야. 나 이 백을 반 값에 샀어.

B:그래서 얼만데?

A:2백달러밖에 안돼.

B:뭐라고? 당신 제 정신이야? 지불해야 할 청구서가 많은데 당신은 백 하나를 2백달러에 샀다고? 우리는 생활비를 아껴야 해(분수대로 살아야 해).

B:알았어. 환불할게.
