You can't have your cake and eat it, too.
우리말로 「이것 저것 다하다」 또는 「꿩 먹고 알 먹다」는 말에 들어맞는 영어 표현에 「have one's cake and eat it,too」가 있다.「have one's cakeand eat it,too」는 「케이크를 먹기도 하고 가지기도하다」는 뜻이니 「꿩 먹고 알 먹다」는 뜻인데 실제로는 있을 수 없으므로 보통 부정문에 많이 사용된다.이 표현은 양자택일해야 할 경우 두가지를 다 하려는 사람에게 쓸 수 있는 표현이다.『You can't hav e your cake and eat it,too.』는 『You can't eat the cake and have it,too.』로도 쓰며 비슷한 표현에는 『You can't have things both ways.』( 당신은 두가지를 다 취할 수는 없습니다)가 있다.
