『What did you do over the weekend?』(주말에 뭘 하셨습니까?)라고 묻는 미국인 친구에게 『I saw a movie, Dances with Wolves.』(영화 Dances with Wolves를 보았어요.) 라고 하자 『Who's starring in the film?』(그 영화 주연이 누구인가요?)이라고 했다.여기서 「star」는 「영화 등에 주연역을 맡다」는 뜻으로 가령 『니컬러스 케이지는 Leaving Las Vegas에서 주연했 다.』고 하려면 『Nicholas Cage starred in Leaving Las Vegas.』라고 하면 된다.『Who's starringin the film?』과 비슷한 표현에 『Who plays the main character?』 『Who's in thelead role?』등이 있다.
